At HuntFest this year, there will be a number of skills workshops held, which will cover a variety of topics of interest to hunters, both novice and experienced.
As hunters we should never be afraid to embrace new techniques, technology or hone our skills. The topics selected aim to do just that.
These workshops will be approximately 30 minutes in duration. The workshop schedule will be identical on each day of HuntFest. The Proposed Skills Workshops for HuntFest 2017:
Skinning an animal in the field (Workshop 1 starts at 11am)
Demonstration of how to skin a large animal in the field, such as deer or goat. Jeff Garrard will show you how it’s done and is more than happy to answer questions throughout the demonstration.
Butchering a game animal in the field or at home (Workshop 2 – 12noon)
Demonstration of how to butcher a game animal for personal use. The butchering is carried out by well know local butcher Dave White. He takes his time and is open to questions.
Meat preserving in the field and sausage making. (Workshop 3 – 2pm)
Learn how to make homemade sausages with Andy Malan from the SSAA Sydney Branch. Learn about field care of meat and best storage practice to preserve your meat.
